1) Riverbed Stone
Find a river stone, smooth and rounded
Take it home and put it in a vice
Scrape and sand, bend and chip
Hours on end become days
The stone compressed now re-formed
Golden dust covers the workshop floor
When darkness falls the stone a-lights
To the river return once more
Its straightened edges, defined so slow
Sharp and jagged, nooks and crannies
The wandering water does now flow
Through dales and valleys
The rushing flow, its kiss so cool
Upon the sanded stone
Now days now weeks now months go by
Seasons turn around the stone
And edges corners handles notes
All soften weather bend and slow
Sunlight glitters on the river-bed stone
Smoothed by Grace and the eternal flow
Take comfort take flight take a riverbed stone
